Yard Waste Pick Up |
Yard waste is collected from April to mid-November. Yard waste pick up will begin again in April.
YARDWASTE:
Grass clippings, leaves, pine needles, pine cones, acorns, small hedge shavings, twigs under 1/2 inch in diameter and under 3 inches long, weeds, flowers and garden waste (compost) are collected by a compost truck mid-April through mid-November (call City Hall, (763) 537-4534 for exact dates). Bags must weigh under 30 pounds, not contain large sticks or refuse, and be placed 5 feet away from regular garbage cart. Unlimited amounts of yard waste are allowed to be set out each week. Yardwaste collection is included as part of your regular monthly service. Stickers are not required for compost.
A galvanized or Rubbermaid-type container is allowed for compost disposal only. You must put a sign on your can which clearly reads “COMPOST” or pick up a “YARDWASTE ONLY” sticker, provided by Waste Management, at City Hall. A lid is required on compost cans so that the contents stay dry and do not blow out. The container cannot weigh more than 30 pounds. Containers with compost (bag, box or can) must be placed 5 feet from garbage containers.
BRANCHES:
Brush, hedge clippings and branches must be bundled and are collected by the compost truck from mid-April through mid-November. Branches must be under 3 inches in diameter, weigh under 30 pounds per bundle and be under 5 feet in length. Stickers are not required. For tree limb and trunk disposal, call a tree service or the Maple Grove Yard waste drop-off site (763-420-4886).
