Planning Moves Forward - 90% plans ready for review
Light rail trains are on a dedicated track (only for light rail) with wires above supplying electricity.
In Robbinsdale, the trains would be on the railroad corridor. The Blue Line would go from Brooklyn Park in the north, through downtown Minneapolis, and continue to MSP International Airport and Mall of America. Connecting in downtown Minneapolis, the Green Line takes riders to St Paul with stops at the Capital and ending at Union Depot or west through Hopkins and ending in Eden Prairie.
Currently planned stations include VanWhite and Penn on Highway 55 where the LRT will be in the center median; LRT turns north to follow the railroad tracks with the next station under Plymouth Avenue near Wirth Park Chalet; Between Golden Valley Road and Theodore Wirth Parkway with a surface parking lot; downtown Robbinsdale near the downtown water tower; Bass Lake Road in Crystal; 63rd by the Park and Ride in Brooklyn Park; LRT turns north to follow West Broadway just north of I-694 with the next stop at Hennepin Technical College at Brooklyn Boulevard; 85th Avenue; 93rd Avenue; and final stop at Oak Grove new the new Target Development Area.
